Iran won't help U.S.-led alliance
( TEHRAN - Reuters ) "Iran will provide no help to America and its allies...in an attack on suffering, neighbouring, Muslim Afghanistan," Khamenei told a group of war veterans and their families. Excerpts of his speech were carried on state television on Wednesday.
"We do not believe America is sincere enough to lead an international move against terrorism. America has its hands deep in blood for all the crimes committed by the Zionist regime," he added, referring to Israel. Full Article
Iran's Khatami denounces Bush's arrogance
( TEHRAN ) Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday said Tehran would not "provide any help to America or its allies in their attack" against Afghanistan, state radio reported.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran will not provide any help to America or its allies in their attack", Khamenei said during a meeting with family members of those killed or injured in Iran's 1980-1988 war with neighbouring Iraq.
Khatami, who was referring to Bush's recent comments on the September 11 attacks in the United States, said, "A powerful human being can become so arrogant, that he thinks he can distinguish between good or bad on his own."
Although terrorism is abhorred by the people throughout the world and rooting out terrorism should be supported by all countries in the world, the drawback of the U.S. campaign against terrorism is that the U.S. officials have no clear definition of terrorism. In other words, they tend to equate the legitimate resistance of some nations against foreign occupation with terrorism. Full Article
Open Letter to G. W. Bush
( Rigoberta Menchu Tum ) In the first place, I want to reiterate to you the solidarity and condolences I expressed to all your people on Tues. Sept. 11 when I became aware of the painful occurrences that had taken place in your country, as well as to share my indignation and condemnation of the threats these acts of terrorism constitute.
In recent days I have been following the evolution of events, using my best efforts so that the response to them would be reflection, not obsession; prudence, not rage; and the pursuit of justice, not revenge. I invoked the consciousness of the world's peoples, the communications media, the eminent personalities with whom I share an ethical commitment to peace, the heads of state and leaders of international bodies, in order that prudence illuminate our acts. The Real Victims
( By Amon Hotep )
Bush said, "We are a country awakened to danger and called to defend freedom. "We will direct every resource at our command - every means of diplomacy, every tool of intelligence, every instrument of law enforcement, every financial influence and every necessary weapon of war - to the disruption and defeat of the global terror network," Bush said.
To other countries: "Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists."
What an amazing speech! The US president Bush is telling the World if they do not support his idiotic campaign or lack thereof, which includes bombing Afghanistan, then they are with terrorists. Well, that is the biggest terrorist threat the world is witnessing today. I stand firmly against terrorism and that includes US terrorism against many nations, so where does that put me? I am on the side of Righteousness and as such cannot support the US campaign which tries to trivialize the legitimate interests of other nations. Full Article
