"We are a country awakened to danger and called to defend freedom," Bush said in an advance text of the 9 p.m. (0100 GMT on Friday) speech to be given to a joint session of Congress.
"We will direct every resource at our command - every means of diplomacy, every tool of intelligence, every instrument of law enforcement, every financial influence and every necessary weapon of war - to the disruption and defeat of the global terror network," Bush said.
To other countries: "Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists." - George Bush
What an amazing speech! The US President Bush is telling the World if they do not support his idiotic campaign, which includes bombing Afghanistan, then they are with terrorists. Well, that is the biggest terrorist threat the world is witnessing today. I stand firmly against terrorism and that includes US terrorism against many nations, so where does that put me? I am on the side of Righteousness and as such cannot support the US campaign which tries to trivialize the legitimate interests of other nations.
The US terrorism is also in our homes as the US media saturates regular Television and cable channels with their propaganda and are working tirelessly to ensure that every nation is drawn into the US leader's myopic worldview. They are misrepresenting the views of many world leaders and are claiming support from nations when their support is for a principle and not the undefined US planned actions.
When millions die all around the world at the hands of the US senseless wars, Aids and lack of food, these same media houses cannot cut sports and senseless movies so that the world can pause and take stock of itself. The USA cannot rapidly build a global coalition against these issues. A few thousand Americans (White Americans) plus the ego of the presidency are worth more that all the lives lost in South America, Vietnam, Grenada, Iraq and the list could go on and on.
Implicit in Bush's statement is his inability to comprehend alternative ways of dealing with America's trauma and bruised ego. Imagine people are being bullied into choosing war instead of the legal system to deal with this disaster.
Isn't it amazing to see the amount of resources they can suddenly find to threaten people in a stretch of mostly barren land. I know it is paining some White Americans that Afghanistan does not have skyscrapers for them to target so they would have to settle for pounding dirt and using the media to sell this 'massive' war. Just in case people forget, it was reported that Bin Laden has no more that two thousand poorly fed 'troops' in that region.
Now I am not trying to defend those non-African Muslims who I am now seeing in the media, fearful of the terrorist stereotyping. You see, for many years Africans suffered the brunt of all negative stereotyping. These non-African Muslims never stood up for justice for all. Why have I not seen these same faces coming forward to condemn SLAVERY in Sudan and Mauritania? They were quite comfortable spreading Islam and covering up the injustices being done by their fellow Muslims. African Muslims were left to defend Islam and deal with Racism on their own. I pity Africans who hold fast to Islam and cannot see the nature of what they support.
But this diatribe from an ignorant President is likely to affect most people in a negative way. So the issues are more than Muslims but about due process and further infringement of rights.
People who are not informing themselves with quality information would have to deal with degrading mental health, which will be the fallout from this poison campaign.
Suddenly BBC, CNN and the likes, can find all the film footage to show the world how 'cruel' the Afghanistan leaders are. Were they not always aware of the problems in that region but hid it from the attention of the wider world? American politicians have a history of supporting the most vile and corrupt misleaders once they are willing to do America's bidding. I don't think I need to repeat the history of this.
I hope Americans realize that after another spate of American aggression, they would have to cope with more Mc Veighs who are unable to deal with their personal anguish after witnessing more brutality.
Who are the victims? Look at the picture above. These people never had a chance to exercise choices. They are victims of more than just these threats, they are victims of a Western system of using people to protect their material interest without considering their welfare.
Today Africans have access to more information so they can make better choices, but most of the people in that region are ignorant of a broader worldview and should not be subjected to further persecution.
The real victims are the poor people whom the leaders kept in slavery with their distorted ideas, aided and abetted by other nations including 'rich' Muslim nations.
They may be the victims today, but tomorrow's victims would be many more people who feel safe today.
