Defending Aggression: The David Kay Report
Posted: Friday, January 30, 2004

Is David Kay a weapon of mass deflection?
The latest spin surrounding the Bush adiministration's pre-war intelligence on Iraq comes from outgoing WMD hunter David Kay. After rummaging around Iraq for nine months and coming back empty-handed, Kay says he now believes that no such weapons exist, and haven't since the mid nineties. But instead of drawing the logical conclusion that he's been duped and played for a fool, he chose instead to launch the latest salvo in the Bush administration's undeclared war on the rank and file US intelligence community.

What WMD?

Where's the Apology?
Mr. Kay still claims that this was a pure intelligence failure. I don't buy it: the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace has issued a damning report on how the threat from Iraq was hyped, and former officials warned of politicized intelligence during the war buildup.

The unjust world order
Repeated time and again, propaganda becomes plausible and, ultimately, "facts", at least for some people, for some time. At such a time, one must remember the proverbial story of the emperor’s clothes. In addition, one must deconstruct the propaganda machinery through recourse to certain basic, indisputable facts.
