Indeed, Venezuela's current conflict could become a test for the meaning of words; not only the insults, but concepts like democracy. In Venezuela democracy, as Chavez's enemies and the media use the word, means return to oligarchy. Human rights mean US-style elections: an acceptable candidate wins and lauds the right of billionaires to own media and print lies.

End of a misadventure?
America’s hasty retreat from Iraq has been prompted by the mounting outflow of body-bags of soldiers belonging to the United States and her allies in the Iraq war, combined with the increasing intensity of the people’s revolt against the aggressors and their supporters. Both these factors had badly shattered the morale of the US authorities. To make matters worse, a number of other unforeseen developments took place in Iraq and elsewhere in the world, visibly shaking further the White House and the Pentagon.
