Conflicted Feelings About the Capture of Saddam
Saddam, in his eccentric ways, symbolized the last drive for pan-Arab nationalism. In many ways, he was unrivaled. He was one of very few who dared to stand up to what many people in the world see as a harsh and domineering United States. To many people living in the Middle East, Saddam Hussein was simply the "lesser of the two evils."

Families sue U.S., reject 9/11 'bribe'
But as many as 73 families see the process of U.S. government compensation as an attempt to protect those who should be held accountable for what they believe was mass murder.

Hatred of Hussein, Fury at U.S.

Tikrit, the legend goes, is the Dodge City of Iraq, a place of such fervor for Mr. Hussein that there can be no accommodation with the American vision for the country, no tolerance for democracy or a civil society that would strip power from the Sunni Muslim minority cliques that have dominated since the nation's founding in 1921; above all, no acceptance that Mr. Hussein, the town's great patron, might face trial for mass murder.

Eight Palestinians killed in Gaza invasion
Israeli occupation forces have killed eight Palestinians in the Gaza Strip as Israeli forces continue their deadly raids into the Rafah refugee camp. Witnesses said about 40 tanks and armoured vehicles entered Rafah refugee camp on the Gaza-Egypt border.
The Palestinians were killed early on Tuesday several hours after two Israeli officers were killed in an ambush in central Gaza Strip, witnesses told Aljazeera.

Unlike the Iraqi operation, it wasn't front-page news in most of the country and was barely mentioned by network newscasts. Israel has long since become a nuclear power, though the fact has never been officially acknowledged.
