So What Happened to Iraq's WMD? Posted: Tuesday, October 21, 2003
Who Turned This Idiot Loose? A two-year crusade of sorts by the Bush administration to mollify moderate Muslims and to try to defuse irrational hate of the West took a sudden and caroming turn last week. That happened when the news media reported Army Lt. Gen. William Boykin was telling church audiences full of evangelical Christians such as himself that the U.S. counter-terror war is a battle with "Satan."
Important History Lessons for the President In a speech to the national congress in Manila, Bush sought to embrace the Pacific nation into his vision of the war on terror, even if he had to spin the truth. "Together," he told his audience, "our soldiers liberated the Philippines from colonial rule."

US soldiers trigger happy in Iraq
Iraqi Civilians Fall Victim to Hair Triggers Adil abd al Karim al Kawwaz was driving home from his in-laws' house in Baghdad one night in August with his wife and four kids. It was dark, and he couldn't see the American soldiers from the 1st Armored Division operating a checkpoint with armored vehicles and heavy-caliber guns. No signs or lights were visible, and he did not understand that he was supposed to stop. So he drove a bit too close and the soldiers opened fire, killing him along with three of his children, the youngest of whom was 8 years old.
No end to US troubles
So What Happened to Iraq's WMD? FOR MONTHS, President Bush has asked the American people for more time to find the Iraqi weapons of mass destruction he said the war was intended to counter. But David Kay and the U.S. survey team charged with finding Iraq's chemical, biological and nuclear weapons provide further evidence that the Bush administration's most dire claims about unconventional Iraqi weapons were wrong and based on discredited intelligence.
