Bush's War on Terror Failing After two years of our "War on Terror," is the world a safer place? The Taliban have returned to Afghanistan. Israel and Palestine have become more violent. More soldiers have been killed in Iraq since President Bush declared an end to hostilities. Even those shrill voices who continue to defend Bush do so with the growing recognition that our entire foreign policy has been an unequivocal disaster.

'Failure is not an option' The Administration is living in fantasyland, talking about the creation of PTA's and more Iraqi cops. As I sit there listening to this drivel, I have to wonder what good are cops who will only serve to point the guerrillas towards our positions and PTA's when sending girls to school involves avoiding rape gangs. Powell is the latest to say "where is the positive news?" And I want to scream at the TV, "they rape children and carjack every day, what positive news are you talking about."

Incompetence or evil? Second, after 9/11, there was the Crusade of Good vs. Evil. Very Old Testament. Very Texas. Very much macho man in charge. Very decisive. Very much me good, you evil. Very Biblical. Very My-God's-better-than-Bin-Laden's. Very prophetic. Very profiteering. In this Bush's America prophets and profits seem inseparable, the new Twin Towers in a political sense.
