Fortified Saudi Compounds Fail to Protect Expats
Freedom, American style One assumes that the World's Only Superpower will figure out sooner or later how to turn on the lights, pick up the garbage, and get cops back on the streets of a decrepit third-world capital like Baghdad.
Pax Romana v. Pax Americana
Iraqi Democracy We are going to ensure that the newly freed Iraqi people are allowed to choose their own leadership, not their own form of government but their own figureheads in a democracy we are going to make sure they get. And this is coming from a republic with an electoral college that has evolved into a two party system where the people are given nothing more than the choice between the lesser of two evils.
Was it really a war, or just a neo-con job? There is much cheering amongst the hawks concerning the fine job Big Bush (and little Blair) have done with Iraq--as if another lop-sided massacre of a 1970's era army, this time functioning at a mere 70% capacity--by an integrated 21st century army with premium technology is something to gloat about.
A nuclear road of no return The deadly weapons of mass destruction have proved phantom in Iraq, but the Bush administration is now doing its best to ensure that the world becomes increasingly unstable and armed to the teeth.
The Lady Is A Tramp! There is no such thing, at this date of the world’s history, as an independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you who dare to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print.
This Wartime Candidacy Leaves Casualties The state of permanent war that is the hallmark of the Bush presidency has its own permanent campaign strategy. Criticism of the commander-in-chief - even for spending taxpayer money to stage a campaign photo-op - is declared out of bounds, an assault not on the president's judgment but on the devoted men and women of the armed services. And on America itself.
