Let's get one thing straight right here and now about the American military's presence in Iraq: we are not going anywhere. In spite of the ever mounting casualties, in spite of the spike in terrorist bombings both in Iraq and on a region-wide basis, in spite of the steady and inexorable collapse of the Bush administration's publicly stated case for going into Iraq in the first place, in spite of the enormous and growing cost of our occupation
