The US Embassy has announced that due to continuing terrorist threats, international passengers will no longer be able to travel through the US for transit purposes without first obtaining a visa.
US citizens or citizens from visa waiver countries will not be affected by the action.
The US Depart-ment of Homeland Security and the US Department of State suspended two programmes on Saturday, the Transit Without Visa and the International-to-International transit programmes, which, as far back as 1952, had allowed international passengers to stop off temporarily in the US to connect to another flight to another country.
