Just as the city felt safe... ANTHRAX
( Anthony Holden ) New York was already living on its nerves, torn between anxiety and a flag-waving determination to keep going, when its first case of anthrax was confirmed on Friday. As panic overloaded emergency wards, Mayor Rudy Giuliani went on TV to appeal for calm. 'There's no reason,' he reassured us, 'to become over-alarmed.'
At his side, state Governor George Pataki meanwhile conceded that the city had reached 'a new level of fear'. Full Article

A letter opened Monday in the office of Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle "had anthrax in it," President Bush said. The envelope was field-tested shortly after being received, and the staffers who were exposed were being treated, he said. Full Article

SYDNEY, Australia -- Dozens of government workers in Australia were hosed down after their office received a letter containing white powder. OCT 21 - Thomas J Ridge, the Bush administration's new director of homeland security, confirmed the FBI "has been able to identify the site where the letters were mailed". At first, given the proximity of the anthrax mailshots to 11 September, the authorities thought they had to be linked to extreme Muslim fundamentalists, probably Osama bin Laden and his Al Qa'ida organisation. There is no evidence that Iraq has anything to do with attacks of Anthrax in the U.S., but these articles shows more about U.S. foreign policies.
The United States almost went to war against Iraq in February because of Saddam Hussein's weapons program. In his State of the Union address, President Clinton castigated Hussein for "developing nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them."
"You cannot defy the will of the world," the President proclaimed. "You have used weapons of mass destruction before. We are determined to deny you the capacity to use them again."
Most Americans listening to the President did not know that the United States supplied Iraq with much of the raw material for creating a chemical and biological warfare program. Nor did the media report that U.S. companies sold Iraq more than $1 billion worth of the components needed to build nuclear weapons and diverse types of missiles, including the infamous Scud. ( Edward Said ) On his visit to Birzeit University, Lionel Jospin had the gall to speak of the Hizbullah fighters as terrorists, also expressing his "understanding" of Israel's actions against Lebanon. As is now widely known, he was greeted after his speech by many hundreds of students, who stoned his car and that of his escort, Minister Nabil Shaath. Jospin's visit to the Palestinian territories (still under occupation by Israel, which is aided in its occupation by the Palestinian Authority) was under the supposed auspices of the Authority, which was exposed for its unpopularity and incompetence. ( Donna Yawching ) The missiles are being smartly guided to their targets (and beyond). The people have started dying. I wonder how Americans are feeling these days? Vindicated? Triumphant? Is the Pentagon keeping a chart where they can track the number of Afghani casualties and set them off against the 6,000 WTC fatalities? Can we hope that when they've totted up six or seven thousand, they'll be satisfied, and call for a halt? Or must it be a five-to-one payback? Full Article

Interestingly Mr. Giuliani gave an excuse of his press statement, in which Prince asked USA to revise its Middle East Policy.
The prince's statement said the United States "should re-examine its policies in the Middle East and adopt a more balanced stand toward the Palestinian cause.
"While the U.N. passed clear resolutions numbered 242 and 338 calling for the Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank and Gaza Strip decades ago, our Palestinian brethren continue to be slaughtered at the hands of Israelis while the world turns the other cheek," the statement said.
Muslims all over the world are shocked and hurt by this rejection. It is gradually becoming evident that the word, "Crusade" was not used mistakenly by President Bush, but it's the part of overall well planned staged drama in which USA wants to convince its own citizens that Arabs, Islam and Muslims have now become the worst enemy of USA and west.
