The industry's top leaders, including Viacom Inc. chairman Sumner Redstone and News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch, will assemble in Beverly Hills Sunday morning with Karl Rove, the president's senior adviser, to hammer out a specific agenda for the entertainment industry to aid the fight on terrorism.
An initial meeting between White House aides and showbiz figures took place Oct. 17, but some in attendance expressed frustration because of a lack of specifics. The Sunday meeting will attempt to address this problem. Full Article

They hauled Taliban soldiers by the thousands into the desert and shot them. Others, they threw into wells, then tossed grenades in after them.
That 1997 massacre represents just one charge from a new Human Rights Watch report detailing alleged war crimes by America's ally in Afghanistan, the Northern Alliance. Along with Amnesty International, the watchdog group is asking the U.S. to withhold military assistance to alliance forces until its leaders address past abuses and, ideally, bring to justice the four chiefs responsible for the worst horrors.
"The senior commanders are really beyond the pale," says Human Rights Watch's Joost Hiltermann. "These were commanders who were in charge when atrocities were committed." Full Article

Letter sent to US abortion clinics
It is a complex investigation made worse by the fact that more than 2,500 anthrax scares in the United States have turned out to be false alarms.
The National Abortion Federation (FAN) in Washington DC says about 200 "anthrax" letters have been received at abortion clinics around the country. The letters contain white powder, some bear the text: "This is Anthrax, have a nice death." Full Article

While earlier peace demonstrations for the Afghan people in The Netherlands were either organized by big coalitions after national preparation, or purely locally, Sunday 4 November saw another type of anti war action. This one, in The Hague, was a spontaneous initiative by local Afghan refugees.
Disgusted by the bloody results of the so called "war against terrorism" of the United States and British governments, they decided at very short notice to march though the city center of The Hague.
